Episode 4: Purpose through Addressing Social Injustice with Saajeda Samaa
In this episode, I speak with Saajeda Samaa, a human rights advocate who fled Afghanistan in 2010. Saajeda is currently working with the advocacy and campaigns team of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Australia. Saajeda’s advocacy has spanned a variety of campaigns such as Action for Afghanistan, Stop the Hazara Genocide, and the Australian Census Awareness Campaign for the Hazara community in 2021. In this conversation, Saajeda shares what drives her advocacy. Through sharing her own story of displacement, she sheds light on how new senses of purpose can be found through addressing the systematic injustices of migrant deterrence policies and amplifying the stories of post-war migrants.
